Two Worlds - Shared
Valeriy Skrypka and Tamara Skrypka
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 7th, 6pm - 9pm
Exhibit: June 7th, 2008 - July 15th 2008 Extended to August 19th
“Two Worlds - Shared”, a two-person show featuring Ukrainian artists Valeriy and Tamara Skrypka opens at the Bucks Gallery of Fine Art, Newtown on Saturday evening, June 7th. Showing for the first time together, the Skrypkas’ are husband and wife and teacher and former student. Working from their subconscious each artist presents vastly different expressions.
Tamara Skrypka’s contemporary still life paintings capture beauty in its simplest form - everyday reality recreated into visual wonders. A meticulous technique with realistic yet emblematic images and a modern compositional clarity depicting a world of the things around results in the existential harmony found in her work.
“I live in the world of suffering, ignorance, sensuality and dreams.” Valeriy Skrypka’s work is grounded in perpetual search for true understanding of the unfathomable. Figures animals, birds, touch stones from Ukraine’s ancient traditions blend skillfully with in original expressions of contemporary experience. Skrypka’s paintings are strong examples of his ability to create aesthetic harmony, while not flinching from the contradictory discordant realities of current life.
An exhibition perfectly keyed for our times continues until July 9th.
